Quality & Environment

Quality Guidelines:

Standard Seafood adheres to the strict guidelines developed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) protocols. Our compliance to the HACCP guidelines ensures our customers that our products are handled and distributed within the established FDA guidelines. Regularly scheduled inspections and well defined policies and procedures are important components of our quality control program. Our quality control program is designed to maintain product excellence and regulatory compliance.

Standard Seafood has a dedicated Quality Management Team which ensures that not just the quality but safety guidelines are followed to ensure that only quality and safe product reach the market.

Our compliance with HACCP standards assures full product traceability such as " lot-coding" each container that leaves our processing plants and implement a rapid recall system should product recall become necessary.

Standard Seafood's quality program is certified by the "European Union Export Certification", the "Aquaculture Certification Council",and the "PureForm Concept" certification program.

The European Union Export Certification is required for all shipments of fish and fishery products that are shipped to the EU. For fish and fishery products generally, the certificates that FDA signs essentially attest that the products have been produced in accordance with a HACCAP - based safety system that at least is equivalent to the EU control system.

The Aquaculture Certification Council is a non-governmental body established to certify social, environmental and food safety standards at aquaculture facilities throughout the world. This non-profit corporation applies elements of the Global Aquaculture Alliance Responsible Aquaculture Program. This certification system combines site inspections, effluent sampling applying sanitary controls, therapeutic controls and HACCP traceability guidelines.

“PureForm Concept” is a Vancouver, Canada based, independent total quality management group that is focused on producing and marketing safe and wholesome seafood of the highest commercial quality, produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.  

Environment:

Standard Seafood is committed to protect the environment in which we work. We speak of the fresh water in beautiful Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela, where we catch crabs and farm-raise shrimp - we take great care in maintaining the balance of nature just right. Not only do we monitor the water quality at all of our hatcheries and processing plants but we follow strict guidelines for disposing of any seafood component.
